Privacy policy
This site collects one thing: the email address you type into the box, if you type one. Everything below is detail around that.
1. Who we are
This site is run by CentBeat, which decides what happens to the information described here. Write to privacy@centbeat.com about anything on this page.
2. What we collect
Your email address, if you give it to us, along with the date you confirmed it. Nothing else is asked for and nothing else is kept about you.
Ordinary server records. Like any website, ours is served by a computer that logs requests: an IP address, the page asked for, the time, and the browser that asked. We use these to keep the site up and to see that it is working, not to build a picture of anyone.
What we do not collect. No name. No payment details. No broker or exchange credentials. Nothing about your trading. There is no account here to attach anything to.
3. No cookies, no analytics, no tracking
This site sets no cookies. It runs no analytics product, no tracking pixel and no session recording. That is why you were not asked to accept anything when you arrived.
The fonts are served from our own server rather than from a font company, so loading a page here does not tell anyone else that you visited.
4. Why we use it, and on what basis
We use your address for one purpose: to send you one email when CentBeat is ready to try. The basis is your consent, which you give by confirming the address and can withdraw at any time.
We use the server records to keep the site running and secure. The basis is our legitimate interest in having a website that works.
5. Who else handles it
Two companies, because we do not run our own mail or our own servers:
- Buttondown stores the email list and sends the confirmation and the launch email.
- Netlify serves the pages and produces the server records described above.
Neither is allowed to use your address for anything of their own. We do not sell your address, rent it, or hand it to anyone else. If we ever change either provider, this section changes on the same day.
6. Where it is, and how long we keep it
Both companies are in the United States, so your address is stored there. We keep it until you leave the list or until CentBeat stops being built, whichever comes first. When you unsubscribe, the record that you unsubscribed is kept so we do not email you again by accident.
7. What you can ask for
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can withdraw your consent whenever you like: every email has a one-click way off the list, or write to privacy@centbeat.com.
Since the only thing we hold is an address you typed in yourself, most of these questions have a very short answer. If you are in the UK or the EU and think we have handled your information badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority.
8. Children
This site is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly keep an address belonging to a child. If you think we have one, write to us and it will be deleted.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If the change affects anyone on the list, we will say so in an email rather than quietly editing the page.
10. Getting in touch
This policy has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It describes a site with an email box and nothing else. It will be replaced before CentBeat holds anything that matters.
